You know what’s reassuring and frustrating at the time? The weekly updates I’m getting for my 12 week old baby. The problem is that the things it tells me he should be doing and the things he will be doing - he has been doing for about 6 weeks now. Pediatrician says he’s very advanced for his age which is awesome! Thing is, these updates aren’t helping me the same way yet did when I was pregnant. Grrr

At 12:22am there is truly nothing like the gentle coos of your baby as you feed them their bedtime bottle and what’s extra special is the FWAPPPP sound of projectile vomit as it sprays across your neck and chest. Mmmm warm and milky. Ahhhh motherhood

5 weeks old and Mommy has a mere 416 photos of you on her iPhone! Surely that’s not excessive?

My niche in my sons life has been carved out over the last 4.5 weeks. It appears I get the top while Daddy gets the bottom. That is, I get the projectile vomit while Daddy gets pooped & peed on.

If you have what you say you have, I’ll make you rich. If you don’t, I’ll make you into shoes

My beautiful son, Bastien, is one month old today!
Milestones:
- now a level one baby (diaper size)
- neck muscles are getting super strong (turtles up for longer periods during tummy time)
- bottles are close to 4oz every two hrs during the day
- his facial expression changes when we are trying to induce a laughter/smile reaction. Genuine smiles are on the horizon!
- his daily routine is much more…routine

This picture is from an article called “The Rescuing Hug”. The article details the first week of life of a set of twins. Each were in their respective incubators and one was not expected to live. A hospital nurse fought against the hospital rules and placed the babies in one incubator. When they were placed together, the healthier of the two, threw an arm over her sister in an endearing embrace. The smaller baby’s heart stabilized and temperature rose to normal.
